Dance fans received a nice gift early on Friday morning (Oct. 27) when Ghastly surprise-dropped a new track from his forthcoming album. “I’ll Wait” revs up with a cheery medley of tweaked-up vocals, but the mix slowly grows more and more unsettling.
Ghastly tosses a strange shuttering effect over some otherwise glamorous-sounding horn synths, and toys with the tuning in quick bursts. The glitziness and darkness grows heavier and headier, until the track is sent into a tailspin with a ballistic drop.’ll Wait” is another curveball in Ghastly’s growing list of self-releases this year, far from the clanging amplitude of “Geisha” (from back in August) and the atmospheric future-bass of the Matthew Koma-featuring “We Might Fall.”
