It’s just me saying Jimmy watch out, I’m here to stay. I can do what you’re doing.”
Dillon Francis is a man of many jokes. If you haven’t already seen the cover art for his song, “Hello There,” then you’re missing out because the image of a jolly man holding a single pineapple can make any somber person’s day that much better.
While in the Billboard studio, Francis explains that he has no connection to who he refers to as “pineapple man” and playfully admits he simply grabbed the image from Shutterstock, a library of royalty-free stock images.
The DJ continued the shenanigans with the latest release of his music video for the spunky tune, which he released on YouTube Thursday. In the video, he impersonates late night hosts in a number of different skits while playing varying absurd characters around the show’s set.
In spirit of the parody-like video, the 30-year-old sat down with Billboard’s Kevan Kenney to chat more about “Hello There” featuring Yung Pinch, including the making of the music video, the song’s success on the charts and how he slid into Yung Pinch’s Twiter DMs to get him on the track.
“It’s just me saying Jimmy [Fallon] watch out, I’m here to stay. I can do what you’re doing. I’m coming for his spot,” he lightheartedly says about his bold characters in the “Hello There” music video.
