Just in time for Halloween, Kayzo and SLANDER drop some righteous bass, a real devious drop for the unholiest among us.
“Holy” sounds like it would be a right pretty thing, but this is godly in the unforgiving sense. Bright, punchy horns herald the coming of a hook that mashes hardstyle and drumstep into a searing union hotter than Hades. It’s a real monster, one the guys have chomped at the bit to unleash since the song made its debut at EDC Las Vegas 2017.
“I’ve known Derek and Scott since the very beginning of both of our musical careers,” Kayzo says in an emailed statement. “We’ve talked about doing more records together for a long time, but just haven’t found the time to get in the studio. I started writing ‘Holy’ earlier this year and sent it to them during the summer time. We wrapped the record up and premiered it at Kinetic Field for EDC LV this past summer.
“Holy” is the second collaborative track from the friends, following the down-tempo, emotional melody of “Without You.” The tracks are released as a pair on an EP called Dilapidation Celebration.
“‘This song represents the more intense/heavy half of the EP and ‘Without You’ represents the more melodic/emotional side,” SLANDER says in a joint email statement. “We felt, with these two songs, we were able to showcase both our and Kayzo’s styles in an equal way.”
Both tunes are out now on Monstercat. Listen to “Holy” on Dilapidation Celebration below.
